The Academy: The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Academy on TV

I’m sure a lot of us have some fond memories of the police academy. All of us have some not-so-fond memories, too. Recently, I have been reliving some of my academy days when I stumbled across The Academy on television.

The Academy follows a class of cadets through the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Academy. From day one (Black Monday) until graduation, you see the highs and lows of training a modern police officer. LASD does a fantastic job at their academy. I was impressed by their staff and facilities.

The show is very well produced, and I enjoyed every episode. I strongly recommend this for anyone who has been through the academy (to relive your past nightmares) and to anyone who has a genuine curiosity about how police officers are trained.     I am not sure when it will be out, but they have started filming the new season of “The Academy” at STARS.

    Dep Miley is the ramrod again.

    I worked with Dwight for a bit when our academy was shut down during a hiring freeze. Great guy to work a car with, but earplugs are a must. The dude has one volume setting.

    That was my wife’s favorite quote from Deputy Miley. But then, she could appreciate his use of sarcasm.

    The new season will air May 18th I believe. For sure in May of 2008. My friend is in Class 368.
