Crimson Trace LG-660 Lasergrip for the Smith & Wesson M&P Police Duty Pistol
By
I’m not completely sold on the idea of laser sighting devices on police duty guns. However, I am becoming more accepting of the idea. I used to be 100% against lasers on duty guns, but I guess after I was issued my first Taser, I began to see the real benefit of using a laser sighting device. If you like lasers, then you know who Crimson Trace is.
Crimson Trace recently released the LG-660 lasergrip for the Smith and Wesson M&P line of pistols. Like other Crimson Trace products, this sighting system uses a red laser that is mounted on the frame of the pistol via the grips. The M&P pistols feature replaceable backstraps for a variety of hand sizes. Crimson Trace designed the LG-660 to replace the backstrap, so the entire laser unit is very compact and compatible with most carry and duty holsters.
Crimson Trace lists the laser for $329, but I found it for only $244.98 on Amazon. If you carry a M&P and like lasers, the LG-660 lasergrip is worth checking out.
Stay safe!
*** UPDATE ***
Crimson Trace has released their new Lasergrips for the S&W M&P Compact pistols - the LG-661. Read more about the LG-661 here.

I carry an M&P and out of curiosity tried a Crimson Trace grip on the M&P demo at the local gun store. I was not impressed. Unlike some CT lasergrips, the M&P model uses a palm activated switch. Most models use an index finger switch that works much better. I found I had to squeeze the grip too tight to activate the laser on the M&P. So tight in fact, that my had shook. I couldn’t keep the laser on target.
Sorry, I like the general idea, but the execution on the M&P just does not work for me. I’m anxiously waiting for someone (hint, hint Lasermax), to come up with a guide rod laser for the M&P. That’s a product that just might meet my needs.
