I think the general concept of redirecting the energy is similar to the Jatimatic, but the design seems to be different. If someone has more information, I'd love to get your input.

Had a chance to fire the civilian version at local range. I was somewhat impessed by it's weight and ergonomics. It was fun to shoot but I found the trigger a little heavy and the factory set sights were set to low (had to aim at head to get center mass) I had to adjust them. Have to say I was the first to test fire NOB and it needed a little oil to keep the bolt moving. A little tinkering and lube and this gun is good to go with quick interchange between mags. The ugly 16" barrel has to go. Wish they had the full auto version to fire to compare with the other full autos they had MP5.40 and Uzzi .45 AR15/16 full auto 9mm for range purposes only of course.

Jesse, Your right about the m-1 carbine being out dated and not the best choice of rifle. Im a 24 yr swat cop and Ill tell you that there is no handgun caliber(reasonable handgun caliber) that will perform as well as the 30 carbine cartridge. This is why the Israeli police still use the 30 cal cartridge. Somebody needs to build a new rifle for the 30 cal carbine cartridge. As far as the Le Mas BMT aplp round, why down load the 45cal round to a small 85gr bullet when you can go w/ a 100-110gr bullet that will do a better job w/out all of the changes.
When your talking about an unarmored target, the 30carbine round has the ballistics of a 44mag round at CQB ranges w/out the recoil. Corbon DPX 30 cal ammo 100gr bullett travels at 2100fps w/ 1280 ft/lbs of energy. Ill take it over the 45cal any day.

Apparently Lane is unfamiliar with the Le Mas BMT APLP 85gr .45 CQB round. Proven to penetrate NIJ Level IIIA body armor. .30 carbine...are you serious?? What happens when it's an unarmored target? Speak to anyone that carried the M1A Carbine and they'd tell you it was a better tent stake than a weapon

The 45 round is no good for penetrating body armor. This is supposed to be a law enforcement weapon. A round that will penetrate body armor like the 30 cal carbine, 7.62x33mm would have been a better choice of ammo.

Andrew,

Thanks for the message.

Of course I have heard of the UMPs. In fact, you will notice in the first paragraph that I mentioned H&K makes a sub-gun in .45 ACP. I have also heard from a number of officers that the UMP does not have the same reliability that the MP-5 has. I'm glad to hear that your department has not had any problems with your three firearms.

Regardless, the KRISS is a very different design than the UMP, and it may suit the needs of some agencies. I'm sure you can appreciate innovation in firearm design. Whether it succeeds or fails will be seen, but I certainly appreciate a company breaking the mold and trying something new.

We currently have in our possession and carry 3 UMP-45s that H&K makes and they are a dream to carry and shoot. They have 25 round mags and we've had no issues with them. Have you not heard of them??
