There is no such thing as an " Ex- Marine " these damn civilians kill me with that mess. Once a.Marine, always a Marine. Now for.the idiot kid that tried to kill one of our own in the beloved corps. I have one thing to say to the kid and anybody else that tries to bring harm to our brothers of the Marine Corps. That is " Death smiles at everyone, Marines Smile b

Ive been a cop for 7 years, and I will say this. If your a police officer and you arent carrying a gun off duty then your a total idiot.
The only time I dont carry a gun is when I plan on consuming alcohol. And that brings up another point. If your going to go out to a bar and drink, make sure its with a bunch of other cops and make sure you have an armed designated driver.

If i'm awake then I have a gun one me. It may seem awkward to a rookie, but get used to it. I use an inside the waist band holster and a Glock 26 (very small Glock).

If you have kids, put the gun in quick opening nightstand safe. NEVER put a gun lock on a gun you might need. Someone breaking into your house with a shot gun isnt going to wait while you wake up and find the key to a gun lock.

Hello. I'm a new recruit and will start the academy in one month. I'm also concerened about carrying a loaded & concealed weapon 24/7 BUT i know it's a necessary evil. My concern though is mainly to do with my 10 & 7 year old and making sure everyone remains safe. Any advice? Thanks!

Carrying without a round in the chamber prevents you from using the gun when you need it. When bad things happen, they tend to happen fast.

A Glock (or any other pistol) is perfectly safe to be carried with a round in the chamber. It will not fire unless the trigger is depressed.

So, keep your finger of the trigger until you are ready to shoot and always use a holster to make sure nothing else snags it. You'll be fine.

As far as carrying concealed, pay attention to how you act and what you do as you are carrying. Work to eliminate those actions and you will blend in fine. Then watch for those behaviors on the street. It is amazing how many people you will spot carrying a firearm (which may be legal in your jurisdiction, by the way!)

Thanks for your military service, and enjoy your new career!

Stay safe!

As a new Officer, this is something that has concerned me alot. I can carry off duty but I am very nervous about carrying a fully loaded Glock with a round in the chamber. I spent 12 years in the military and we are so controlled when it comes to firearm safety that its just been ingrained in me. Im also afraid of a citizen freaking out when they notice a bulge under my shirt at the grocery store or wherever. (We have to conceal out off duty weapons and badges). But my FTO and other officers tell me I will get more comfortable with time.
