Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced a recall of their LCP .380 pistols due to a problem with the guns possibly discharging if dropped on a hard surface. Ruger’s recall program will upgrade the hammer assembly of your LCP firearm free of charge and return the gun to you with a new magazine.
For all of you that own and carry a Ruger LCP .380 for back-up or off duty carry, you need to check out this article about the LCP recall for more information.

I have an LCP. I have confidence in it. Ruger customer service is exemplary. When I asked for the updated hold-back, they sent it to me at no charge. The LCP was the first gun I ever worked on, but I was able to make the change without much difficulty even though it is taken apart considerably to make the exchange.
The fact that they initiated a recall when it is not clear that they were required to do so increases my admiration for the company.

Just another reason why no one should ever buy a Ruger semi-auto.
They’re great at revolvers, but they suck at pistols.
Sheesh. I can’t believe people bashing Ruger for a recall, what with all the lawsuit-happy people around. So a couple of people drop their guns on concrete and they go off. Don’t you know that ANY gun can go off, if it is dropped with a cartridge in the chamber? Jar a primer hard enough, and it will detonate. Why do you think they tell us to be so careful handling primers??
I am not impressed with Ruger. Look at the numerous mistakes they have made. What ROCKET SCIENTIST designed the Mark 22 pistols? Ever try to get one apart to clean it?
My Ruger P95 has serious issues, too. I love the part that goes on the end of the recoil spring. My springs come apart whenever I clean it. I was told to replace this (some Ruger parts moron) every 3-5 HUNDRED rounds. I think she meant thousand. I found the 2 or 3 times I called parts-they were clueless.
Great job on the SR9. Enough said. It had a recall.
I had a part I was going to order for my P95. It was 20 bucks in the book I had, I called them and the price had DOUBLED.
These guns were designed to be shipped back to the factory for work. Put out crappy product and keep the factory rolling with over-priced repairs. I am going to sell my Rugers.
Well, I kept my P95. I actually sent it back to Ruger. I have to say, I was impressed this time around. I think they may have won me back. They rebuilt my gun, even gave me a new barrel. Even test fired it and checked out the sights. Turn around time was great, too.
I decided to stay American. I had a few Ruger 10-22′s over the years, they are nice and easy to get accessories.
I am not sure about the SR9′s. For some reason, I don’t really like the look. For a smaller gun, I don’t like the mousey (what is it, LCP?) gun they have cuz it is double action only. I carry a Bersa 380 and love it.
Anyway, I will try to buy American when I can. I am glad that Ruger showed some redemption. I am looking forward to their new products.
