Stress and Coping for Police Officers

If you are a cop, you work in a stressful environment.  Between administrators who beat you down with inane rules and the thugs on the street, you have a whole plateful of BS to digest much of the time.

Kevin Davis wrote a good column on stress over at  Davis talks about where the stress can come from and productive coping methods.  Going home, kicking the dog and drinking liquor is not considered productive.  Exercise, non-police hobbies, eating healthy, having a good social support system, and learning relaxation techniques are good coping methods.

All of us have times where the stress becomes a bit much.  All of us know someone on the job who is going through a lot of stress right now.  Check out Davis’s article and see if you can get something to help yourself or your partner.
