I like the review, but, I”m sorry, but, I would prefer Surefire over any other lighting system out there, even if that means that it may be a big dent in anyones pocket book

I recently bought the Poly DS after finding out we were not upgrading our original issued Stingers. I have found the DS to be extremely bright and easily lights up a room even during daylight hours. I can’t wait for my next night shift to test its capabilities.

I too have some issues with the holster. The new DS does fit the short scabbard I used for the original, but the longer tailcap area gets hung up every time I try to remove it from the holster. I’m waiting to see if anyone makes a DS specific holster soon!

I have been shopping for a Stinger LED and noticed something that is worth mentioning. The PolyStinger DS LED is rated at 185 lumens in the bright or high mode. The early LED lights are rated at 140 lumens. Check the specifications before purchasing, I would have been disappointed if I purchased an earlier version with the lower output.

Wow…how did I fail to mention that??? Yes, DS means dual switch. There are two switches, one at the head and one on the tail. Both control the light the same way, and work just like they should. You can turn them on and off for constant light, or lightly press them for instant on/off.

My hubby loves his Stingers. He mentioned a while back that he’d like to upgrade to the new LED version someday. Hmmm, maybe I see a birthday gift for him in the near future. Before deciding on it, though, I need to make sure: it DOES have the tail cap switch, right? He prefers those for tactical use; he wouldn’t like it if it only has the head switch.

I see you can get just the light (without charger) for just $94 on Amazon. Not bad. I assume the “Dual Switch” means it is equipped with the tail cap switch too. But since you’ve actually used this light, can you confirm that for me?
