I have a question that I'd like responded to by the real police. I'm a retired officer living in Florida. My home city makes the retiree carry fed law almost impossible to comply with. I am 63, don't really want a Fla. CCW permit, or to run around with a pistol in my pocket.

But, may I legally carry a loaded firearm in the glove box of my auto while on a trip in the state? I'd rather hear about it than get pinched for the first time in my life.

Thank You,
John

A good way to accomodate officers that have not mastered the basics is to categorize the officers in different groups for training. Basics grouped together, intermediates grouped together, and high speed grouped together. That way officers can work on skills at the level they need.

It is frustrating for all involved otherwise. If the group is working on intermediate or high speed skills and someone is at the basic level the instructor will have to deal much more often with the lowest level officer. This slows everyone else down and frustrates them. It also hurts the basic officer because they aren't able to make any improvement since the skills are so far above their level.

Good article.
