I echo Andy's comment about using a 20 round mag - 30's are just to tall even if you have no extra padding on your stomach. There is a noticeable weight addition to the duty belt and my handgun mags stick out enough to hamper, but no elimitate my ability to bend over to to the ground. I carry both the mag pouch and duty mags in a vertical position. So far the jury is out. It seems well built and I like the idea of having the extra ammo close. So far, I have been carrying my extra mag all the time, but may switch to leaving the extra mag in the hard case with my rifle and just grab it when I deploy the rifle. I know it's one more thing to remember to do, but there is a trade off of not carrying that extra weight on my belt, which is heavy enough. I have been using one for the last 60 days or so. I have to carry it horizontally, and my pistol mags are vertical. I carry a 10 rounder on the belt, not a full 30 otherwise it sticks out too far and gets in the way. my rifle bandoleer has my spare 30 rounds if i know I'm going in for a long fight, I keep that with my rifle bag.
