Illinois will be terminating more than 460 troopers this year because of the state’s “budget crisis,” said Jonathon Monken, the acting director of the Illinois State Police.  Combined with pending retirements, this will reduce the troopers by almost 600, which is a reduction of about 30% of the department’s 2000-strong force.
