New ETS Glock 42 and 43 Magazines

By Aaron 3 Comments

ETS has produced new magazines for the Glock 42 and 43 (here the 7-round 9mm flush magazine).

Elite Tactical Systems (ETS) has recently released new Glock magazines for the very popular concealed carry targeted Glock 42 in .380 caliber, and Glock 43 in 9mm. These magazines are a continued expansion by ETS to produce a full line of Glock magazines. Though many non-OEM magazines do not live up to advertised expectations, the ETS magazines have received mostly good reviews from reputable sources, like RECOIL.

Previously, ETS has released various capacity Glock magazines for 9mm, and .40 S&W. The BlueSheepdog has had the opportunity to shoot and review multiple versions in both 9mm and .40 S&W and so far have found them to be reliable, well-made, and durable.

Remington’s New 6.5 Creedmoor Magpul Rifle

By Aaron Leave a Comment

The new Remington Model 700 comes in 6.5 Creedmoor and Magpul stock.

Remington has just announced the release of their new Model 700 in 6.5 Creedmoor. This new Model 700 will also be outfitted with the Magpul rifle chassis that is gaining in popularity for its lightweight design, and enhanced features that provide the modularity to fit a wide range of shooters. The continued expansion of 6.5 Creedmoor has been one of the biggest news items in the rifle market.

Several years ago there was serious doubts about a 6mm or 6.5mm cartridge being able to burst through the .30 caliber strangle hold on the rifle market. I for one am thrilled that 6.5 Creedmoor is gaining in popularity. Mind you, I’ve been a .308 and .30-06 shooter most of my life, in both professional and hunting purposes. However, the superior trajectory, and outstanding terminal ballistics of the 6.5 Creedmoor, have not only wet my appetite for this cartridge but made me seriously consider this to be the strongest contender for the best overall rifle round on the market.

Ruger Recalls New Mark IV Pistols!

By Aaron Leave a Comment

Ruger has announced a safety notice and recall of all Mark IV and 22/45 pistols.

Sturm, Ruger & Co. has just announced a product safety notice and recall for all of their popular new Mark IV™ pistols. This recall will include the new 22/45™ models of the Mark IV as well, and involves all pistols manufactured prior to June 1, 2017. Ruger has discovered these pistols have the potential to unintentionally discharge if the safety is not properly utilized.

The safety notice and recall sounds a lot like legalese to me. Obviously if a safety is not engaged correctly a pistol is primed to fire under the right conditions. This sounds a lot more like a part in the safety mechanism itself may not engage, leading the shooter to believe the pistol is on “safe” when in fact the safety is not engaged and the pistol is primed to fire.

This safety notice and recall DOES NOT include any of the previous Mark I, Mark II, or Mark III line of pistols. Read on for more details on this safety notice and recall.

New Springfield Armory XD-E Hammer-Fired Pistol

By Aaron 2 Comments

The new Springfield Armory XD-E has some great features for a concealed carry pistol.

Springfield Armory has released their new XD-E™ compact hammer-fired polymer pistol. In what appears to be a response to a somewhat growing inquiry by customers for enhanced hammer-fired pistols, the XD-E focus is clearly on “the hammer reinvented.” In a market flooded with striker-fired, polymer framed pistols, it is kind of refreshing to see a classic design emerge with the highlights of engineering and design manufacturers have been displaying in recent years.

The XD-E features solidify its place in the concealed carry arena, or back-up handgun for on-duty use. Designed with a slim profile, polymer frame, and enhanced features, the Springfield XD-E should be a welcome option to any Springfield Armory fan or concealed carry customer. The new Springfield XD-E will have a slim profile polymer frame and stainless steel slide, providing the best of both worlds for weight and durability. The XD-E action is double-action/single action (DA/SA), with a de-cocking lever/safety on the rear of the frame. One of the main advantages the new XD-E advertises; however, is the reported 27% less energy required to manipulate the slide.
