It’s hard to believe that 2015 is almost over, but the end of the year means we’re very close to another SHOT Show. The BlueSheepDog crew are busily preparing for our annual trip to the desert, where we will gladly handle the firearm industry’s latest offerings for you! This year we’re getting additional help, and hope to be able to gather even more information, photos, and videos of what’s new in 2016.
Keep reading to see a preview of the firearms, gear, accessories, and other items we will be reviewing at the Show. Some items will receive a simple news posting, others will receive an initial review from our range experiences. Others products will receive a full review through manufacturer test & evaluation options.
SHOT Show 2016
The Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show is the largest firearm, hunting, and associated accessories event in the world. As of this posting we are less than one month away from the bonanza of firearms, optics, lights, and gear that make the shooting, hunting, law enforcement, and military world so exciting.
The 2016 SHOT Show is gearing up to host over 6700 vendors, and nearly 70,000 attendees. The closest competitor is the IWA& Outdoor Classics event in Nuremberg, Germany. That event is not even half the size of SHOT Show, having around 32,000 visitors but only around 1300 vendors
SHOT Show History
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been officially hosting and organizing the annual event for 37 years. What started with an attendance of 5900, has exploded into an event that has nearly 70,000 attendees. What began with only a couple of hundred industry vendors, has now grown to over 6,700. There really is nothing like it.
In the early years SHOT Show was rotated to various locations throughout the United States. In fact, the 2nd SHOT Show was held in the anti-gun bastion of San Francisco, California back in 1980. Could you imagine trying to hold the event there now? As SHOT grew the show had fewer locations it could be held.
For a few years it went back and forth from Las Vegas to Orlando, but since 2010 the show has been anchored at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, and is already booked through 2017. Over the last 7 years the SHOT Show has been held in Las Vegas, Nevada and takes up the entire Sands Expo Convention Center – over 630,000 square feet.
