Velocity Systems Trigger Glove

The Trigger Glove can provide short to moderate term protection from elements, while still allowing the shooter a familiar grip and trigger pull.
The Trigger Glove can provide short to moderate term protection from elements, while still allowing the shooter a familiar grip and trigger pull.

Virginia based Velocity Systems has a product called the “Trigger Glove,” designed to give shooters a secure grip, positive tactile trigger contact, and some protection against the elements while firing and handling their firearms. The Trigger Glove is not the first shooting glove on the market claiming these features, but it does appear to be a high quality glove that can meet the demanding requirements of professional shooters.

To even be considered, a glove must be able to snuggly fit the lines of the shooter’s hands so the grip and trigger pull feel as natural as possible. In addition, a glove must be made of material that will provide some protection against the cold and wet elements to be seriously considered. This combination of needs are often at odds with each other, and make producing an ideal shooting glove that much more difficult.

Shooting With Gloves

The use of a gloves when shooting has been a struggle for me, as it is for many officers living in an area of the country where the full effects of winter are felt. One of the fundamentals of shooting is to maintain a secure grip and consistent trigger pull. Adding a glove can dramatically change both of these fundamentals.

The leather palms and trigger finger provide a very secure grip.

In harsh winter conditions the body loses heat rapidly from the extremities – including the hands. The need to protect the hands from exposure to the cold (or wet) is obvious. Unfortunately, that usually means wearing heavy gloves that are all but impossible to shoot with. Having a glove that can provide some protection from the elements, while fitting close enough to the hand to provide a familiar grip is essential. These gloves can be worn full-time, and even under heavier gloves, for full-time use and quick access when needed.

The Velocity Systems Trigger Gloves fit snuggly in a "Second Skin" design.

The Velocity Systems Trigger Glove uses a mixture of fine leather and wool for protection against the cold and wet, while tailoring the gloves fit to be like a second skin to the shooter. As designed, the Trigger Glove may provide the proper shooting grip necessary for repeatable accuracy, and provide at least short to moderate term protection from the cold and wet elements that can quickly eliminate an officer’s effectiveness in those conditions.

I have not had the opportunity to evaluate the Velocity Systems Trigger Glove, but they appear to be well made. Do any of you have experience with these gloves? What do you think of them?
