Strike Industries Viper Mod-1 Stock

By Aaron

Strike Industries is a company to add to your short list!
Strike Industries should be added to your short list!

Strike Industries may not have the name recognition yet, but the company has made impressive gains in the 4 short years they have been in business. One of the Strike Industries newest products is the Viper Mod-1 rifle stock. Lightweight, easy to install, and offering several features becoming more popular among professional shooters, the Viper Mod-1 rifle stock is very likely to increase the success of this company. Strike Industries has already gained an avid fan base, and with more products like this the numbers are sure to increase.

The CEO and founder, Garrett Keller, is a former Navy helicopter crew chief with combat experience including Spec-Ops and Search & Rescue missions in combat. With his own passion for AR-15’s and pistols, Strike Industries promises not to field an accessory they would not use themselves.

Strike Industries Viper Mod-1 Rifle Stock

The Viper Mod-1 stock includes features designed for military professionals, law enforcement officers, and firearms enthusiasts as well. The result is Strike Industries can offer a lighter multi-position stock, with a very attractive price. The Strike Industries Viper Mod-1 stock will likely become very competitive with alternatives in a short amount of time. The stock has an angled buttstock that more accurately fits professional shooters wearing body armor, without reducing the surface for solid shooting placement beyond an acceptable amount.

The Viper Mod-1 rifle stock from Strike Industries is designed to be a quick drop-in replacement stock for AR-15 or M-16 carbines with a Mil-Spec buffer tube. Currently the Viper Mod-1 is not made to fit Commercial buffer tubes, but I imagine if the popularity rises like I expect it will the Commercial option will come out later.

The Viper Mod-1 has ambidextrous QD sling attachment points, and incorporates a more standard sling slot as well. The buttstock has a low profile, but aggressive designed pad providing a very nice grip surface to maintain rifle placement on the shooter’s shoulder.

Final Thoughts

The Strike Industries Viper Mod-1 rifle stock is a very impressive, low profile, adjustable stock. The articulated buttstock is very beneficial for officers or professionals wearing body armor, and the aggressive texture should provide good grip for secured shooting. The QD sling attachments are also highly beneficial when moving in close quarters. The 6-position adjustment lever is close to the stock for easy access and reduced snagging.

Some will not like the red QD sling attachment points, but in lower light situations that color difference standing out could save seconds in re-attaching a loose sling, particularly on the FDE model. Regardless, the QD mount option is outstanding, and the color options are personal preference.

Some may believe this is just a slightly altered Mission First Tactical (MFT) Minimalist stock, but I feel the Viper Mod-1 is a far superior product for these reasons:

  1. Much shorter articulated buttstock – less chance of snagging
  2. Larger 6-position adjustment lever
  3. Lower profile overall
  4. Angled cheek weld for greater stability
  5. QD attachment at rear and side of stock for more options, less tangling.
MFT Minimalist Stock is actually very different than the Viper Mod-1.
